Project Description

Shively Pump Station Improvements – Louisville, Kentucky

Magna provided electrical engineering services for this $1.5M major upgrade of the electrical and control system at an existing wastewater pump station.  The pump station includes three 75 horsepower wastewater pumps.

The project included a new electrical service, standby generator with automatic load bank, and complete replacement of the pump starters and control system.  Operator interface controls are located in separate enclosures from the starters, and operate 24VDC, to allow for minimal arc flash protection while maintaining equipment.  A new programmable logic controller provides level monitoring and control, and monitoring of the pump station and power system.

The new electrical equipment is installed in a separately constructed building which provides a clean and temperature controlled environment.  The design also allowed the pump station to remain in operation during construction.
