Project Description

Orchard Grass Wastewater Pump Station LaGrange, Kentucky

Magna Engineers is providing electrical, controls, and instrumentation engineering services for a new 3.9 MGD sanitary sewer pump station with three submersible pumps and approximately 4200 LF of 10” force main. The project includes a wetwell, valve vault with motor operated pump discharge valves, control building, and standby generator.

Controls include variable frequency drives for each pump.  Submersible pressure transducers and backup float system provide continuous wetwell level to a programmable logic controller.  Automatic controls provide lead-lag pump operation.  Magnetic flowmeters provide continuous pump station discharge flow measurement, recording, and totalizing.

The standby generator is 350 KW, diesel, with sub-base fuel tank and sound enclosure.

Electrical and control equipment is provided in a pre-fabricated building with lighting, cooing, and heating designed to accommodate the heat loads of the variable frequency drives and other heat-producing control equipment.

The project also included de-commissioning of an on-site wastewater treatment plant.
