Project Description

Deep Springs Pump Station – Lexington, Kentucky

Magna Engineers provided electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation engineering services for this pump station replacement project, located in a residential area of Lexington.

The station is a triplex submersible pump station, with variable frequency drives for each pump. Redundant submersible pressure transducers continuously monitor the wetwell level and provide automatic speed adjustment of the pump motors in a lead-lag configuration. A float system is provided as an additional backup, to operate a pump at a fixed speed in the event of transducer failure. Other controls aspects of the project include a magnetic flowmeter for continuous flow measurement, as well as radio telemetry coordinated with the existing LFUCG Motorolla system.

The project includes a new building to house electrical equipment and odor control system. A natural gas generator in a sound attenuated enclosure provides full standby power.

HVAC consists of adequate ventilation and heating, as well air conditioning for the controls room.
