Project Description

Boone National Guard Center MedComm Addition

Magna provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design services for the addition to an existing medical command unit.  The addition includes an assembly area and supporting spaces to allow processing for 75-100 persons.  The addition will bring the total building size to approximately 8,880 square feet.

The plumbing design includes extension of existing domestic hot and cold water systems to serve additional restrooms.  Plumbing fixtures are handicap accessible and include automatic sensors.  The building includes 100% fire suppression, and the existing system will be extended to accommodate the new spaces.

The HVAC design includes a 7.5 ton heat pump system, with efficiencies as required to meet current International Energy Conservation Code requirements.

The electrical design includes new interior and exterior lighting.  Interior fixtures are fluorescent with high efficiency ballasts and density as required to meet current International Energy Conservation Code requirements.  Occupancy sensors are used for control.  Exterior lighting includes wall mounted LED cutoff fixtures with photocell control.

Power and communications infrastructure will be extended to include receptacles and communications outlets to accommodate open area workstations.  New power distribution is connected to the building’s existing standby power system.  Communications cabling will be terminated at an existing patch panel.  The existing fire alarm system will be expanded to meet current code requirements.
